WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SKINBOOSTER AND MESOTHERAPY ?

Dernière mise à jour : 5 June 2026

Hydrating, brightening and revitalising the skin without changing volume or freezing features : this is the ambition of growing numbers of patients wishing to preserve beauty naturally, subtly and progressively.
In this spirit, two treatments stand out for their popularity and effectiveness : Skinboosters and mesotherapy. Both approaches aim to enhance the skin, but have different objectives and mechanisms of action.
Although their protocols have similarities — fine needles, shallow injections, visible improvement in skin quality — they differ clearly in composition, indications and intended results. Understanding these differences is essential to choose the treatment best suited to each profile, according to age, skin type and individual expectations.

Skinbooster versus mesotherapy

Skinbooster and mesotherapy both use micro-injections directly into the skin. Their principle is therefore similar, but they differ in the nature of the injected product, injection depth and intended biological target.
Skinbooster uses pure, very fluid, lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid deposited in the deep dermis to restore hydration, improve density and strengthen skin firmness.
Mesotherapy involves injecting a nutritional cocktail of vitamins, amino acids, minerals and antioxidants into the superficial dermis. This mixture provides genuine cellular stimulation, reviving radiance, nourishing the skin and helping prevent the first signs of skin ageing.

The composition of mesotherapy and Skinboosters

The main distinction between these treatments lies in the composition of the injected substances themselves, which determines both their action and the results achieved.
Skinbooster consists mainly of pure hyaluronic acid, sometimes enriched with antioxidants or amino acids depending on the brand. Its low viscosity allows it to diffuse and integrate into deeper skin layers for lasting hydration and plumping from within.
Mesotherapy involves injecting a nutrient mixture adapted to the patient’s needs : vitamins (A, C, E, B5), minerals (zinc, selenium), amino acids, coenzymes, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Its aim is to nourish, revitalise and superficially hydrate the skin without increasing density.

Indications for mesotherapy and Skinboosters

Both treatments aim to improve overall skin quality, but their respective indications differ.
Skinbooster is recommended to :

  • Deeply hydrate dehydrated, creased or mature skin lacking suppleness and elasticity.
  • Improve early signs of sagging to restore facial firmness and tone.
  • Soften widespread fine lines, particularly those linked to skin dryness.
  • Increase skin density in the most fragile areas, such as the cheeks, neck, décolletage or backs of the hands.
  • Complement botulinum toxin or conventional hyaluronic acid by improving skin quality without adding volume.
  • Prevent skin ageing and dehydration in patients from 30 to 35 years old within preventive aesthetic medicine.

Mesotherapy is ideal for :

  • Young adults wishing to take early preventive action against ageing.
  • Dull, weakened skin or skin exposed to external stressors such as pollution.
  • Skin tired after pregnancy (post-partum), significant stress, a seasonal change or prolonged sun exposure.
  • Patients seeking a quick, visible “radiance boost” without changing volume or transforming features.
  • Mesotherapy can also be used on the scalp to stimulate regrowth in alopecia through its revitalising and nourishing action on hair follicles (hair mesotherapy).
  •

Expected results : immediate or gradual ?

The speed of action and longevity of results differ considerably between Skinbooster and mesotherapy.
With Skinbooster, initial effects appear after about a week, becoming optimal after three to four weeks. The skin then gains density, firmness and deep hydration, with gradual softening of fine lines. Results last an average of ten to twelve months, sometimes longer depending on skin quality and the protocol followed.
Mesotherapy, however, offers an almost immediate effect : the complexion looks more luminous within the first few days, giving the impression of “awakened skin”. However, its action remains more superficial and short-lived. To prolong radiance, a course of four to six sessions close together is generally needed, followed by monthly maintenance.
Mesotherapy therefore serves as a radiance-boosting treatment, whereas Skinbooster works deeply as a genuine foundational treatment, offering lasting improvement in skin quality and structure.

Protocols : what injection schedule should you expect ?

The treatment protocol differs according to whether Skinbooster or mesotherapy is used.
For Skinbooster, the initial course generally includes one to three sessions about three weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session every ten to twelve months to prolong benefits over time.
Mesotherapy sessions are more frequent initially, with four to six sessions every three weeks. Maintenance every three months is then recommended to preserve skin radiance and vitality.

Can Skinbooster and mesotherapy be combined ?

Combining Skinbooster and mesotherapy is particularly valuable because these treatments act at different levels and complement each other perfectly. Skinbooster improves skin density and firmness while providing deep, lasting hydration, whereas mesotherapy offers immediate revitalisation, improves superficial hydration and optimises cellular metabolism. Combining the techniques therefore treats the skin both deeply and superficially, resulting in a more even complexion, better resistance to skin ageing and enhanced luminosity.

Conclusion : Skinbooster and mesotherapy, which should you choose ?

These treatments share the same objective : improving skin quality and restoring radiance and vitality without changing facial features. They differ in depth of action and effect duration.
Mesotherapy acts mainly at the surface, with a visible short-term action that revives complexion radiance and helps prevent the first signs of ageing.
Skinbooster works more deeply and offers lasting results. It strengthens skin density, improves hydration and helps gradually soften fine lines while preserving natural skin suppleness.
The choice between these techniques depends on several parameters : patient age, skin quality, intended aesthetic objectives and the degree of regeneration needed. In some cases, combining or alternating mesotherapy and Skinbooster is a particularly valuable strategy, achieving harmonious, visible and lasting results.
