WHAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AFTER A SKINBOOSTER ?

Dernière mise à jour : 4 June 2026

Skinbooster is an aesthetic treatment recognised for its subtle, natural effects : it intensely hydrates the skin, improves density, revives radiance and softens fine lines.
But although the procedure is gentle and requires no social downtime, it remains a medical procedure. And like any injection, its effectiveness also depends on what is done after the session.
So what should you avoid after a Skinbooster ? What precautions should you take in the hours and days afterwards ? Here are the essential recommendations to ensure an optimal, lasting result.

Avoid any pressure or massage on the injected area

During the 24 hours following an injection session, it is important to pay particular attention to the treated areas. The skin has just received hyaluronic acid and needs time to integrate it smoothly. During this period, excessive manipulation should therefore be avoided : do not massage, rub or compress the area concerned, or sleep with your face pressed into the pillow if the cheeks or temples have been injected. It is also preferable not to apply pressure with your hands or accessories such as thick glasses or a helmet.
These precautions are meaningful. They allow hyaluronic acid to integrate properly into the tissues, achieving a natural, balanced result. Conversely, pressure or rubbing too soon can disrupt integration and cause an uneven result or even slight local irritation. Following these simple recommendations therefore promotes optimal healing and contributes to the quality of the expected aesthetic result.

Avoid heat sources for 48 hours

After an injection session, it is essential to protect the skin from excessive heat sources. Heat dilates blood vessels, which can increase redness or swelling that sometimes appears in the hours following treatment. It can also disrupt the gradual integration of hyaluronic acid into the dermis and encourage small bruises.
This is why, during the first few days, it is preferable to avoid any activity or environment exposing the skin to high temperatures. Saunas, steam rooms, very hot baths and prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV lamps should be avoided.
Particular care is recommended in summer. Outdoor heat and direct sunlight can further weaken the treated areas. For two to three days, it is therefore advisable to protect the skin with high-protection sunscreen or wear a covering hat. These precautions promote optimal recovery and help maintain the aesthetic result’s quality.

Avoid exercise for 24 to 48 hours

Exercise directly influences blood circulation and body temperature. Immediately after an injection session, these effects can have unwanted consequences for the treatment. Increased blood flow can intensify slight local inflammation, while body heat may disrupt proper integration of hyaluronic acid. In some cases, this can even accelerate its breakdown and cause premature absorption of the product, reducing result longevity.
For this reason, it is strongly recommended to pause exercise for one to two days. This short break particularly concerns intensive cardiovascular activities such as running, fitness, dancing or HIIT sessions. However, gentle walking or gentle yoga can be maintained, provided you listen to your body and avoid excessive overheating.
Taking this time to rest, even briefly, helps protect treatment quality and optimise the evenness of the aesthetic result.

Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medicines in the first few hours

After an injection session, some products can influence the response of the skin and tissues. Alcohol, like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (ibuprofen, aspirin…), thins the blood. This phenomenon, harmless in other situations, can here increase the risk of small bruises or haematomas at injection sites.
To limit these effects, it is preferable to avoid all alcohol on the treatment day and for the following 24 hours. Similarly, anti-inflammatory medicines should be avoided unless specifically medically indicated. These precautions promote faster recovery and a more uniform aesthetic result.
If discomfort or slight pain occurs after the injection, paracetamol can be taken, offering a more suitable and better-tolerated alternative in this context. Patient comfort is therefore maintained.

Do not apply make-up for 6 to 12 hours

After an injection, the skin goes through a period of heightened sensitivity. It must be protected to minimise any risk of irritation or contamination. This is why it is preferable to let it breathe without make-up in the hours after the session. Applying foundation, powders or concealers, or using brushes and sponges directly on the treated area, should be avoided during this initial period.
From the following day, the usual cosmetic routine can be resumed, provided impeccable hygiene is maintained. Following these simple recommendations significantly reduces the risk of skin reactions such as persistent redness, small blemishes or spots, particularly on sensitive skin.
Giving the skin this rest period not only promotes immediate comfort but also helps optimise the quality and evenness of the aesthetic result.

Avoid aggressive aesthetic treatments during the following week

After Skinbooster treatment, the skin needs time to regain balance and fully assimilate the injected hyaluronic acid. During this phase, certain aesthetic treatments otherwise known to be effective — such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling or lasers — are discouraged. By placing considerable demands on the dermis, these techniques risk weakening already sensitised skin and compromising the expected result.
To preserve skin integrity and ensure a harmonious result, it is preferable to wait two to three weeks before scheduling this type of complementary treatment. This interval allows the skin to recover comfortably.

Monitor without worrying

It is entirely normal for the skin to react slightly in the hours following a Skinbooster injection. Minor signs may appear, such as localised redness, warmth, slight swelling or tiny red dots at puncture sites. These effects are expected and temporary : they generally fade spontaneously within 24 to 48 hours without requiring particular care.
However, if a reaction seems unusual — for example persistent pain, spreading redness or pronounced itching — it is always preferable to contact your doctor again. A simple check can assess progress, reassure the patient and, if needed, provide an appropriate response.

Conclusion : recommendations after Skinbooster

It is important to follow a few simple instructions to optimise the effectiveness of an already effective treatment.
Skinbooster is a minimally invasive, quick and generally very well-tolerated treatment with subtle results. However, as with any medical procedure, certain recommendations must be followed after the session to ensure optimal product integration, a harmonious skin response and prolonged results.
By avoiding heat, exercise, make-up application and any manipulation of the treated areas for the following 24 to 48 hours, you give your skin the best conditions to benefit fully from the treatment.
