Before your consultation
To prepare for our meeting, please gather information about your medical history, allergies and regular medication. If you have previously undergone aesthetic procedures, details of their nature and dates and, if you know them, the products used will help with your assessment.
You can also write down the points you would like to discuss. You do not need to know which treatment to ask for : the purpose of the consultation is precisely to understand your concern and identify the possible options.
Do not stop any prescribed medication without medical advice. Any preparation instructions will be explained to you according to the procedure being considered.
The first consultation : understanding your concerns
The first consultation begins with a discussion of your expectations. I invite you to explain what bothers you, what you would like to improve and what you wish to preserve.
The medical examination then allows me to assess your skin, your anatomy and the specific characteristics of the area concerned. For the face, observation both at rest and in motion helps me understand the balance of your features and expressions.
This meeting allows us to compare your expectations with what treatments can achieve and define a realistic goal. If a procedure does not seem appropriate for your situation, I explain the reasons.
A personalised treatment proposal
Following this assessment, I present the approach that I consider most appropriate. Depending on your needs, it may involve a single treatment or several sessions spaced apart.
We discuss the expected improvements, the limitations of treatment, how long results take to appear and how long they are likely to last. I also explain the usual after-effects, the precautions to follow and the risks, including rare complications when relevant to the proposed procedure.
The cost and practical arrangements for treatment are explained before it is performed. You therefore have the information you need to make an informed decision.
Time to decide
You can attend a consultation for advice without committing to treatment. You remain free to accept the proposal, postpone it or decide against it.
This time allows you to reflect and ask any questions that may arise after the consultation. If anything remains unclear, it must be clarified before the procedure.
Your consent is based on an understanding of the proposed treatment, its possible benefits and its risks.
A 15-day reflection period must always be observed for laser treatments.
On the day of treatment
Before we begin, we review the aim of the session and the areas to be treated together. I also check that there have been no changes in your health or medication since the consultation.
The procedure and the sensations you may experience are explained to you. Measures to improve your comfort are adapted to the treatment and your sensitivity. You can report discomfort or ask for a pause at any time.
Photographs are taken to document your care and make comparisons easier during follow-up.
After the session : tailored instructions
At the end of treatment, I explain the expected after-effects and the precautions to follow. Depending on the procedure, these may relate to skincare, make-up, physical activity or sun exposure.
Some treatments allow a rapid return to your usual activities. Others require a recovery period. We discuss this before the session so that you can make the necessary arrangements.
You are also informed of any unusual signs that require medical advice and how to contact the practice. If you are unsure about how a treated area is progressing, seek advice without waiting for your follow-up appointment.
Follow-up and assessment of results
Results are assessed after a period that varies according to the treatment. Swelling, redness or a temporary reaction may change the appearance of the area during the first few days. It is therefore sometimes necessary to wait before judging the result.
Follow-up arrangements are defined according to the procedure performed. When a review is indicated, it allows me to assess your progress, answer your questions and discuss any possible adjustment. This depends on the medical examination and is not automatic.
Ongoing support
Your needs and wishes may change. Subsequent consultations allow us to review the results achieved and consider whether to continue treatment, space sessions further apart or stop.
Maintenance treatment is never an obligation. Every new proposal must retain a medical indication and correspond to your wishes.
Throughout your journey at the practice, my role remains the same : to listen to you, advise you honestly and ensure that your care remains consistent.
