Medical profiloplasty is an aesthetic medicine technique aimed at enhancing and harmonizing the profile of the face.
Since the rise of social media and selfies, the beautiPHIcation of the profile has become a growing demand.
Depending on the patient's gender, the profile will also be either masculinized or feminized.
A harmonious profile has the following characteristics :
The forehead is rounded in women and straight in men. Hollow areas will be treated, and bumps camouflaged. The height and projection of the eyebrows are calculated and adjusted according to gender.
Seen in profile, the nose forms a convex curve in men and a concave curve in women. In most cases, it is possible to create this curve and correct bumps and hollows.
We project the chin appropriately : its projection is calculated in relation to the nose and lips. We sculpt the most suitable shape according to gender and facial morphology : a rounded or rounded-square chin is sought in women, a square chin in men.
Lips are full and well defined in women. In men, their volume depends on facial morphology and the patient’s preferences. The upper lip is one third the height of the lower lip and projects slightly beyond it. The white lip is concave, and the red lip is convex.
The cheekbone is the main feature of the female face. In women, it is high and centered over the zygomatic bone, forming a soft curve from the ear to the nose. In men, the cheekbone is flat and rectangular.
The jawline should be well defined – it is the most important element of the male face. The lower third of the face is wider in men and narrower in women. The mandibular angle is projected and square in men, rounded and softer in women.
Medical profiloplasty is a treatment that must be performed by an experienced doctor. Analysis, technique, product mastery, and knowledge of beauty standards are essential.
Hyaluronic acid injections are the key technique. This treatment enhances and harmonizes the profile while lifting sagging tissues that weigh it down (8-point lift technique).
Botox injections are used to open the eye area in women and to address eyebrow drooping in men.
Cryolipolysis is effective for treating fat deposits in the double chin area.
At Dr. Romano’s clinic in Geneva, medical profiloplasty is always tailored to the patient’s facial morphology and aesthetic goals. In most cases, hyaluronic acid injections are billed at 600 CHF per syringe. Certain more specific techniques may lead to an adjusted rate, ranging from 650 to 750 CHF depending on the indication and the area treated. The number of syringes needed is determined during the consultation.
Botulinum toxin injections are offered at different prices depending on the patient’s sex. For women, one area is charged at 300 CHF, two areas at 450 CHF, and three areas at 600 CHF. For men, one area is billed at 350 CHF, two areas at 500 CHF, and three areas at 650 CHF.
Sculptra treatment is offered at 900 CHF per vial. In most cases, one vial per year is sufficient to stimulate collagen production and maintain a progressive, natural result over time. Cryolipolysis, sometimes used as a complement for treating submental fat (double chin), is billed at 600 CHF per session. One to three sessions may be required depending on the extent of the fat deposit.
A personalized quote is provided during the initial consultation, based on the patient’s specific needs and the areas to be treated.
The results of a medical profiloplasty (performed with hyaluronic acid injections) typically last between 12 and 18 months, depending on the patient’s metabolism, the treated area, and the type of product used. Maintenance sessions are recommended to preserve results and maintain facial profile harmony
Medical profiloplasty is generally well tolerated and minimally painful. A numbing cream can be applied beforehand, and most injectable products contain lidocaine (a local anesthetic), making the procedure more comfortable.
Medical profiloplasty is a non-invasive technique using hyaluronic acid injections to reshape the profile, correct minor imperfections, and harmonize facial features. It offers immediate, reversible results with no recovery time. Surgical profiloplasty, on the other hand, is a more invasive procedure intended for permanent corrections. It requires anesthesia, has a longer recovery period, and carries surgical risks.
To ensure safe and natural results, it is essential to choose an experienced and certified physician who specializes in aesthetic medicine and facial anatomy.
