Acne mesotherapy is an innovative treatment method specifically targeting acne-related issues. By injecting vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and anti-inflammatory agents directly into the skin, mesotherapy helps reduce inflammation, regulate sebum production, and stimulate cellular regeneration to diminish inflammatory and retention acne lesions.
This treatment is recommended for :
• Moderate to severe acne.
• Skin prone to excessive sebum production : seborrheic skin and oily skin.
• Inflammatory and retention acne lesions. Acne scars are not improved by this treatment.
This procedure is mainly performed on the face, but other areas such as the back, shoulders, neck, and décolleté can also be treated.
The injected preparation contains synergistic active ingredients that target multiple acne-related concerns :
• Zinc : regulates sebaceous gland activity to limit excess sebum.
• Salicylic acid : gently exfoliates to prevent clogged pores.
• Biomimetic peptides : strengthen the skin barrier and combat inflammation.
Additionally, this blend is enriched with vitamins, soothing agents, and hyaluronic acid to restore the skin’s hydrolipidic balance. The presence of retinol helps fade scars and post-acne discoloration, resulting in smoother, more even-toned skin.
The effects of mesotherapy are both visible and long-lasting. This treatment offers multiple benefits, including :
• Long-term regulation of sebum production and seborrhea.
• Reduction of active acne : the injected active ingredients help minimize breakouts by regulating sebum production and soothing inflammation.
• Prevention of blackheads and sebaceous gland blockages.
• Visible improvement of skin tone, making it more even and radiant.
• Reduction of inflammation and bacterial proliferation responsible for acne.
• A more uniform complexion : mesotherapy for acne enhances overall skin appearance, reducing redness and textural irregularities.
This treatment is gentle and does not require social downtime.
The primary mechanism of action in mesotherapy is sebum regulation. The active ingredients used are specifically tailored to target this skin condition :
• Vitamin A : regulates sebum production and accelerates cellular renewal, reducing the formation of new acne lesions.
• Natural extracts of Ginkgo biloba : possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, calming inflammation while protecting the skin from free radicals.
• Vitamin PP (niacinamide) : soothes inflammation and strengthens the skin barrier, helping to reduce redness and irritation associated with acne.
• B-group vitamins (B3, B5) : promote healing, hydrate the skin, and enhance the skin's regenerative capacity.
• Hyaluronic acid : deeply hydrates the skin and accelerates tissue repair, leading to healthier, smoother skin.
These active ingredients work in synergy to treat inflammatory acne and improve the overall skin appearance.
Acne scars cannot be treated with mesotherapy. Some practitioners use brightening agents and growth inducers to reduce pigmentation, but the results remain disappointing.
Acne mesotherapy must be performed with caution, especially during an acute inflammatory phase with pustules, as there is a risk of spreading bacteria through the skin. In such cases, Dr. Romano prioritizes patient safety and will refuse to proceed with the session.
For moderate to severe acne, it is often advisable to undergo a few laser sessions beforehand to reduce inflammation before starting mesotherapy. Each session is personalized, with particular attention given to acne-prone skin, which is often fragile and sensitive.
In the acute phase, mesotherapy is especially beneficial for improving oily skin, reducing blackheads and comedones, and reviving a dull complexion. It also enhances skin hydration, which is often compromised by acne and drying treatments.
This treatment is suitable for both adolescents and adults. Between the ages of 30 and 45, nearly 50% of women and 25% of men still suffer from acne. Additionally, due to a relative increase in androgens during menopause, acne can also appear at this stage, making mesotherapy a relevant option for menopausal women.
A chemical peel is often performed before the mesotherapy session, as the combination of these two treatments enhances their effectiveness. However, Dr. Romano does not perform mesotherapy on minors.
Mesotherapy is not recommended in the following cases :
• Skin conditions on the area to be treated.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Cancer.
• Poorly controlled diabetes.
• Autoimmune diseases.
• Blood clotting disorders or excessive bleeding.
• Allergies to any of the ingredients used in the treatment.
The results become visible from the first sessions, with a reduction in active acne and an improvement in skin texture. A complete treatment may require multiple sessions spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart for long-lasting results.
The initial phase consists of 6 sessions at 3-week intervals. During the maintenance phase, it is recommended to have one session every 2 months.
The price of a mesotherapy session for the treatment of acne is set at 300 CHF. This price includes the entire medical procedure : the prior clinical evaluation, the selection of active ingredients based on the skin type and acne stage, as well as the injections.
The price therefore reflects not only the technical procedure but also the rigorous medical supervision and the quality of the products used, which are tailored to each skin type and acne condition.
The products are selected with precision, and their injection requires technical expertise.
The frequency and number of sessions depend on the progression of skin manifestations, the skin type, and the response to treatment. A personalized protocol is always proposed during consultation, and the total cost depends on the number of sessions performed, as the per-session rate remains constant.
Patients who have chosen mesotherapy for acne treatment report a significant improvement in their skin condition, with fewer breakouts, smoother, more hydrated, and radiant skin.
