Cette expression poétique (elle désigne l’endroit où coulent les larmes) fait référence au trait qui se trouve entre la pommette et l’aile du nez et qui continue le cerne. En fait il s’agit du même trait qui au niveau de sa partie orbitaire (partie haute) forme le cerne et au niveau de sa partie malaire (partie basse au niveau de la pommette) forme la vallée des larmes.
