Anatomical definition<\/h2>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The tear trough is a groove extending diagonally from the inner eye corner towards the cheek, at the junction of the lower eyelid and upper cheekbone. Medically, this depression is often called the nasojugal groove. It is a volume transition between distinct anatomical structures rather than a surface flaw or simple skin problem.<br>Some patients have it constitutionally, sometimes from adolescence. Others develop it gradually as deep facial fat diminishes. The hollow becomes visible, especially under certain lighting, changing the eye area's appearance. The face looks more marked and less rested despite no actual fatigue.<\/p>\n<h2>Why does the tear trough appear ? Main causes<\/h2>\n<p>Tear trough formation combines several factors. They can be pigmentary (brown, linked to an accumulation of melanin), vascular (bluish, linked to the thinness of the skin and the visibility of the capillaries), or hollow.\n<br>Eye bags, finally, refer to a protrusion of the fatty tissues contained in the orbit.
